Iwi Members.

Iwi Members

Members from each of the Iwi who can whakapapa to any Tupuna named in our Tupuna lists will be entitled to benefit from the Settlement. They must be enrolled with their Iwi or Tainui Taranaki ki te Tonga Ltd. Enrolment also means that Iwi members will be entitled to attend and vote at Trust meetings and participate in election of Trustees.

Iwi members - Nga Harakeke

If you can whakapapa to any of the Tupuna identified in the Tupuna lists of our Shareholders you may be entitled to benefit from the Settlement, according to the constraints of the Charitable Trusts Act or other legislation under which the Shareholders are registered, and their policies for distribution of benefits to Nga Harakeke.

However, to qualify, you must be registered with your Iwi or with Tainui Taranaki ki Te Tonga Ltd; many of you will already be registered as a member of your Iwi or as a shareholder of Wakatu Incorporation, in which case you are only required to confirm that this is so. If you are not already registered with one of the Iwi or with Wakatu Incorporation, then please complete the enrolment forms attached to this brochure.

Enrolment also means that:

  • You are entitled to attend and vote at meetings of your Iwi Trust or participate in postal votes:
    • Including the election of Trustees, and
    • The formulation of policies under which your Trust conducts its business
  • You are entitled to attend meetings of Tainui Taranaki ki Te Tonga Ltd and participate in the voting on formal resolutions, including those relating to:
    • The mandating of the Company and its Directors to conduct negotiations with the Crown on behalf of your Iwi/hapu/whanau
    • The acceptance of any offers received from the Crown as a basis for the settlement of your Iwi/hapu/whanau Claims.

Shareholders.

Iwi Representatives - Directors.

Each of the five entities holds equal shares in the company with each entity having the right to nominate two of its Trustees to sit as Directors or Iwi Representatives on the Board of Tainui Taranaki ki te Tonga Ltd. The current board of Tainui Taranaki ki te Tonga is;
